Highlights of her career so far have been two big solo exhibitions in New York, which gathered attention in the international press.

As an artist, Tove S Hellerud is described as a lyrical expressionist, with a starting point in perception, vision and sensing. Her imagery refers to what we have around us, and the inspiration is found through her relation to both nature and culture.

Her works alternates between the outer and the inner life. The paintings are tactile and open, and invite the viewer into a dialogue. Colours and shapes meet us in visual force fields. The pictures are exploratory and sensitive, and offer continuously newfound associations for the viewer. Hellerud strives for a painterly freedom, where the pictorial work follows the premise of the painting.
